In September 2007, Toronto East General Hospital's (TEGH) Board of Directors approved the new 2008-2011 Strategic Plan. The plan outlines a set of priorities as to how the hospital will achieve its mission of service to the community. The plan is based on consultations with our stakeholders, including staff, physicians and volunteers, local agencies, and local residents, as well as a scan of the environment in which the Hospital operates, a demographic analysis and a market share analysis.
The plan highlights the valuable clinical role that TEGH plays as a large, urban, full-service community hospital; the ongoing importance of TEGH's ability to continuously evolve to meet the changing needs of its community and the health care system; and the significant impact that actions and contributions of each staff, physician, resident, student and volunteer can have on TEGH patients and their families.
The Plan defines priorities within each of the strategic success factors, updating performance measures for each. The consistent trend that emerges is an emphasis on accountability and continuous quality improvement in: patient care, access to care and service, safety, resource utilization and collaboration.
